By Pulsing (PWM) the time, the motor is on and off and varying the speed of the motor greatly allows for control of the motor, which increases the motors efficiency & reduces wear and tear on the motor. It leads to greater overall system efficiencies and saves energy. It also helps to monitor/display the RPM/CFM of the motor.
