The kit includes high-temperature leads pre-terminated into a plug and all necessary mounting hardware.

Technician Notes

  1. Disconnect all electrical power and shut off the gas supply before servicing.

  2. Photograph or label the existing ignitor wiring and bracket orientation.

  3. Handle the silicon nitride element by its ceramic portion—avoid touching the surface.

  4. Remove the old ignitor, clean the mounting surface, and inspect the bracket for damage.

  5. Install the new ignitor in the bracket, ensuring correct alignment and secure hardware torque.

  6. Route and plug in the leads, applying dielectric grease on terminals if desired.

  7. Restore power and initiate a heat call; confirm the element glows within ~15 seconds and that the control board registers flame.

  8. If faults persist, reference the control board’s LED codes and measure ignitor resistance (typically 70–100 Ω at room temperature).

Nordyne ignitor with plug. Ignitor is 3" long. Wire leads are 9-10" long. Ends of wire fit inside plug. Ignitor glows to light flame on burner. It's also a flame sensor and will send signal to control board to shut down furnace if no flame is detected. Do not touch with bare hands while installing.
