Technician Notes

  1. Disconnect all electrical power before servicing.

  2. Label or photograph the old ignitor’s wiring and bracket orientation.

  3. Remove the existing ignitor; clean the mounting surface of debris.

  4. Position the new silicon nitride element in the insulator bracket—avoid bending or twisting the element.

  5. Secure mounting hardware evenly; do not over-torque.

  6. Route high-temperature leads clear of the combustion path.

  7. Restore power and initiate a heat call; observe glow timing and flame rollout to confirm proper operation.

  8. If ignition faults occur, reference control board LED codes and verify flame sensor operation.

Nordyne ignitor for hot surface ignition (HSI) systems. This 120V nitride igniter now replaces the old silicone carbide ignitor. Nitride is designed to withstand more abuse and last longer. Installs the same as your old igniter.

Ignitor glows to light flame on burner. It's also a flame sensor and will send signal to control board to shut down furnace if no flame is detected.
